The last month in Širvintos… Time to reflect.

To be honest, the first month was quite a challenge. A new country, a new language, communicating exclusively in English – I felt like a lost kitten. But daily practice did its job: now I understand what people are saying, and I can confidently respond!
I had to adapt quickly because, at the very start of my volunteering, I faced my first big event – a Halloween party. It was difficult: I didn’t fully understand what was going on and what I should do, I had to figure it out as I went along. But in the end, I pulled it off!

However, what I loved the most was the Christmas party at Mobile Work – it was warm, almost like a family gathering, full of laughter and real holiday spirit. Evenings in Sirvintos offered a celestial spectacle, unobstructed by city lights, allowing me to relish nightly strolls along the lakeside serene and enchanting experience.

Mobile Work: Challenges and Discoveries
Mobile work became the heart of my volunteering. Together with my manager Elena and other volunteers, we traveled to schools and youth centers, where we often organized activities on our own. Sometimes we had to come up with something interesting with minimal resources – that’s when creativity and improvisation were essential!

We played Mafia, organized blind games, and held workshops dedicated to important events. One of those moments was creating bracelets for Ukraine’s Independence Day. It wasn’t just a creative activity but also a way to remind others of our culture and history.

Social Work and Helping Others
One of the most valuable experiences was helping at the food bank. Together with the teenagers, we participated in collecting food for those in need. It taught me to appreciate support and teamwork even more.

Another significant moment was the presentation about Ukraine. I shared my culture, traditions, and told our history. On that same day, we made borscht at Mobile Work, and it turned into quite an adventure!

The Lessons I’ve Learned
📌 English – it’s not scary when you use it every day.
📌 Social media – I’ve improved my skills, but I still don’t love working with them.
📌 Volunteering – it’s not just about helping others, but also about deeply understanding yourself.

A special warm moment was the birthday greeting from the organization. It was completely unexpected, but so pleasant!

Lithuania and Self-Discovery
I came here to find answers to important questions. And I found them. I’ve learned more about myself and even figured out what my next steps will be.

Lithuania – the perfect place for self-discovery.
Quiet, beautiful, and inspiring.
